Until the 21st of March, Granada celebrates its traditional tapas competition. A tour through the main establishments that reveal the city through the appetite
Granada is hosting the seventh edition of its competition, Tapas by Granada. Flavors, smells and textures come out on the street for 10 days, during which the gastronomic space of the Dauro Group, La Chopera, has joined this year with their tapa ‘Evening at La Chopera’. With this culinary bite, they aim to consolidate the good gastronomy and positioning of Granada in the market. This edition of the tapa is a tribute to Luis Oruezábal, Chikito, a posthumous recognition of his work in communication and touristic promotion of the city on a national and international level.
One of the biggest incentives to visit Granada is undoubtedly its gastronomy, especially its tapas. Until Saturday, March 21, the gastronomic space of La Chopera, belonging to the Dauro hotel chain, joins with its inscription to the contest Granada de Tapas, whose goal is to glorify these little bites of glory.
With a special character, and supporting the gastronomic establishments of the Alhambra city, this contest has already become a culinary reference. An action promoted by the Hospitality Federation, the Granada City Council, and Cervezas Alhambra as a sponsor, which as of this year, takes a new name: Luis Oruezábal ‘Chikito’, in recognition posthumously, for his involvement with the city of Granada and the external presentation and promotion. The objective of the competition is clear: to highlight and value gastronomy, granting the city a privileged place in the national and international market.
Under the umbrella of quality service, customer attention, and great cooking, Grupo Dauro has joined this new edition with a tapa. Flavors, smells, and textures take shape in what they have called ‘Evening at La Chopera’ which consists of a bite in the form of Toast with Orange-marinated Salmon and dried fruit sauce. La Chopera thus enters the competition for one of the four prizes awarded in the categories of: absolute prize for the best special tapa awarded by the official jury, prize for the tapa with pairing with Cervezas Alhambra, prize for the best tapa made with Granadan products or traditional Granadan cuisine, and popular prize voted on the web. The latter votes will remain open until Friday, March 20.
In this way, the excuse is perfect for spending a Father’s Day tapas tour in Granada where the encounter with Granadian gastronomy plays an essential role. An experiential gift to pamper fathers with the best bites.
The competition is backed by a professional and specialized jury as well as by a popular jury that can vote through www.tapasengranada.es. On March 21, the day of the final, there will be a show cooking in the courtyard of the Granada City Hall, where a kitchen will be set up for the 10 finalists to prepare their tapas that will be evaluated by the professionals gathered there.
There will be 66 establishments participating, spread throughout the City Hall area, Calle Navas, Plaza del Campillo, Plaza Mariana Pineda and San Matías, San Antón, Alhamar and Recogidas and others such as Calle Elvira or Paseo de los Tristes among others. Undoubtedly, a route through each of Granada’s gastronomic corners.
